N*GGER WETB*CK CH*NK
N*GGER WETB*CK CH*NK, also known as N*W*C, is an autobiographical comedy stage production co-written by Rafael Agustín, Allan Axibal, Miles Gregley, Liesel Reinhart, and Steven T. Seagle. It was originally performed by Rafael Agustín, Miles Gregley, and Allan Axibal, but has since counted Daisuke Tsuji, Jacksn Mcqueen, and Dionysio Basco as its stars. Liesel Reinhart and Steven T. Seagle co-directed the play, with Reinhart overseeing the lighting design, and Seagle the set and costume design.
N*W*C, part of the SPEAK Theater Arts company's repertoire, uses a combination of theater, stand-up comedy, hip hop, slam poetry, and real-life stories to take on racial slurs, stereotypes and the concept of race itself. The show debuted in the Spring of 2004 at UCLA. N*W*C quickly became a success in Los Angeles thanks to its first profesional run at The Los Angeles Theatre Center, which was produced by the Latino Theater Company, and then toured the United States (in over forty-two states!) for over a decade.
N*W*C was performed at colleges, theaters, conferences, and performing art centers across the country. It was the opening act for the Latino Laugh Festival, the centerpiece event at NCORE (National Conference of Race & Ethnicity), and has won awards for its advancement of social justice in the arts.
Besides the critical acclaim the play recived from the LA Times, New York Times, Denver Post, LA Weekly, and Seattle Post-Intelligencer, N*W*C is most proud to have been boycotted by Neo-Nazis.
